2008 NBA MVP
Kobe Bryant led the Lakers to the top seed in the Western Conference and was rewarded with this year's NBA Most Valuable Player Award. It was Bryant's first MVP Award, and the Laker's first since Shaq in 2000.

2008 Kentucky Derby
The favorite Big Brown, ridden by jockey Kent Desormeaux, won the 134th running of the Kentucky Derby by 4 3/4 lengths. It was the third win for jock Desormeaux and the first for trainer Rick Dutrow. Runner up Eight Belles unfortunately had to be euthanized after the race.

Big Brother 9
Houseguest Adam Jasinski was the big winner on Big Brother - Season 9 and took home $500,000. He received six out of seven votes to defeat the other remaining houseguest - Ryan Quicksall.

NFL Draft
The Miami Dolphins took Michigan offensive tackle Jake Long with the first overall pick in the 2008 NFL Draft. Chris Long, defensive end of Virginia, went second to St Louis.

FHM Sexiest Woman
Megan Fox, best known for her role in the movie "Transformers", was named FHM Magazine's Sexiest Woman of 2008. Last year's winner Jessica Alba dropped to number three.
