Sep 16, 2007
The 59th Annual Emmy Awards were held September 16, 2007 in the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles. "The Sopranos" went out on top by winning Best Drama, while "30 Rock" came on to win Best Comedy.
The Emmys really spread the wealth in the major categories in 2007, as no show won more than one 'major' award. Outstanding actor and actress in a drama were James Spader (Boston Legal) and Sally Field (Brothers and Sisters). Outstanding actor and actress in a comedy were Ricky Gervais (Extras) and America Ferrera (Ugly Betty).
The Miniseries "Broken Trail" won multiple awards, as did the special "Tony Bennett: An American Classic".
The 2007 Emmys were done 'in the round' and hosted by Ryan Seacrest.
