"Billy Elliot" was given the most nominations for the 63rd annual Tony Awards. The musical about a coal miner's son who wants to be a dancer had 15 nominations. The show won ten Tony Awards including Best Musical.

The three actors who play Billy Elliot were nominated together and won for the Best Actor in a Musical award.

"Next To Normal" scored eleven nominations, while the revival of "Hair" and "Shrek the Musical" both received eight nominations.

The 63rd Tony Awards were hosted by Neil Patrick Harris.
