Incumbents dominated the 2006 California elections, including Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger getting re-elected after winning in the 2003 special election. Senator Dianne Feinstein also won re-election.
As for the House of Representatives, the only incumbent that lost in California was Republican Richard Pombo. Jerry McNerney defeated him in the 11th District. The Republicans retained an open seat in the 22nd District of California when Kevin McCarthy won.
