Minnesota's 1st Congressional District is comprised of the southern part of the state and includes such cities as Rochester, Mankato, Winona and Austin.

Democrat Tim Walz is the current representative for the 1st District of Minnesota. He defeated Gil Gutknecht, who had served the 1st District for 12 years, in 2006.
