Royals ace pitcher Zack Greinke won the 2009 American League Cy Young Award in a landslide.

The right-hander received 25 of 28 first place votes and a total of 134 pts. Runner up Felix Hernandez received two first place votes while Justin Verlander received the other.

Greinke had a modest 16-8 record, but posted a Major League best ERA of 2.16. He became the third Royal to win the Cy Young Award (Bret Saberhagen in 1985 and 1989 and David Cone in 1994).
