San Francisco Giants pitcher Tim Lincecum received 23 of 32 first place votes from the baseball writers and took the 2008 National League Cy Young Award. He was 18-5 with a 2.62 ERA. He led the major leagues with 265 strikeouts.

Lincecum is only the second San Francisco Giant to win the Cy Young Award. The first was Mike McCormick way back in 1967.

Brandon Webb and Johan Santana each received four first place votes and finished second and third in the voting respectively.
