Ryan Howard of the Philadelphia Phillies was voted the 2006 National League Most Valuable Player. Howard led the NL in home runs and RBI's. His stats for 2006 included 58 homers, 149 RBI's, and a .313 batting average. 2005 winner Albert Pujols of the Cardinals finished second.
Ryan Howard was the fourth Philadelphia Phillie player to win the award, and the first since Mike Schmidt in 1986.
