Florida Marlins leadoff hitter Chris Coghlan won the 2009 National League Rookie of the Year award in a close vote.
The left-fielder received 17 first place votes to edge J.A. Happ, who was the only player named on all 32 ballots.
Coghlan batted .321 and led all NL rookies in batting, runs (84), hits (162), total bases (232) and on-base percentage (.390). He become the third Marlin to win Rookie of the Year (Hanley Ramirez and Dontrelle Willis).
