2006 World Baseball Classic

Japan won the first ever World Baseball Classic championship game, held on March 20 in San Diego. The team from Japan defeated Cuba 10-6.

Korea and the Dominican Republic finished pool play with the best records, but lost their semi-final games to Japan and Cuba.
