Kobe Bryant of the Los Angeles Lakers won his first NBA MVP Award in 2008. Byant finished the regular season second in scoring (28.3 ppg) on the way to leading his Lakers to the top seed in the Western Conference.
This is the eighth MVP award for the Lakers organization, and the first since Shaquille O'Neal in 2000.
