Apr 7, 2008
The Kansas Jayhawks' Mario Chalmers hit a three with 2.1 seconds left in regulation to send the 2008 NCAA Championship Game into overtime. The Jayhawks then surged ahead and never looked back on their way to defeating the Memphis Tigers 75-68. Memphis had missed several free throws down the stretch which could have iced the game for the Tigers. Memphis had a nine point lead with 2:12 remaining.
The championship was the third for Kansas and their first since 1988.
The game was the seventh overtime game in tournament history, and the first since 1997 when Arizona beat Kentucky.
