Ohio State Buckeyes quarterback Troy Smith was the runaway winner of the 2006 Heisman Trophy. His 1662 point margin of victory was the second largest in Heisman Trophy voting history. Troy Smith was the sixth Ohio State player to win the Heisman Trophy, and the first since Eddie George in 1995.

Runner-up was Arkansas running back Darren McFadden.
