Padraig Harrington was three shots back at the turn on the final day, but shot a 32 on the back nine to overtake Sergio Garcia and win the PGA Championship.
This was Harrington's second straight major after winning the 2008 British Open earlier this year. He becomes only the fourth player to win the British Open and PGA Championship in the same year.
Padraig Harrington also became the first European in 78 years to win the PGA Championship.
