Players Championship
The Players Championship is an annual tournament on the PGA Tour. The first tournament was held in 1974 in Marietta, Georgia and it moved to different locations its next two years - but then the Players Championship moved (in 1977) to Ponte Verde Beach in Florida where it is played today at TPC Sawgrass. The signature hole of the TPC Sawgrass is the 17th with its island green. Because the Players Championship offers large amounts of prize money, it is often unofficially referred to as the "fifth major".
Jack Nicklaus has won the Players Championship three times. The most recent winner in 2011 was KJ Choi.
