The Southern 500 (formerly the Dodge Avenger 500) NASCAR race is held yearly at Darlington Raceway in Darlington, South Carolina.
The Dodge Avenger 500 was the result of the merger of the Carolina Dodge Dealers 400 and the Mountain Dew Southern 500 and was first held in 2005. The race was known as the Dodger Charger 500 in 2005 and 2006.
In 2009 the race was called the Southern 500 presented by GoDaddy.com.
Greg Biffle won the first two races. The latest winner of the Southern 500 in 2010 was Denny Hamlin.
