Boston Marathon
The Boston Marathon is held annually on Patriot's Day (the third Monday in April).
The first race was run way back in 1897 and was won by John J McDermott of New York.
More recently runners from Kenya have dominated by winning 17 of the last 20 races. The most recent winner was Robert Cheruiyot of Kenya who has now won the Boston Marathon five times.
