Barbaro wins the 132nd Kentucky DerbyMay 6, 2006

Barbaro ended up winning the 132nd Run for the Roses easily by 6 1/2 lengths. Jockey Edgar Prado rode Barbaro to the largest margin of victory since Assault in 1946.

Barbaro also became the sixth undefeated Derby winner at 6-0, a feat also accomplished by Smarty Jones two years previous.

The post-time favorite, Sweetnorthernsaint at 5-1, finished seventh.

Barbaro's trainer was Matz Michael R and the owner was Lael Stables.
