2008 Kentucky Derby

Big Brown wins the 134th Kentucky DerbyMay 3, 2008

Big Brown and jockey Kent Desormeaux started in the 20 hole, but ended up easily winning the 134th running of the Kentucky Derby by 4 3/4 lengths. The favorite going in, Big Brown became the first to win the Derby from the 20th spot since Clyde Van Dusen in 1929.

Sadly, the Big Brown's victory was overshadowed by second-place finisher Eight Belles - who broke both front ankles and was euthanized after the race.

Big Brown's trainer was Rick Dutrow and the owner was IEAH Stables and Paul Pompa.
