2007 Tour de France

Alberto Contador wins the 2007 Tour de FranceJul 29, 2007

The 2007 Tour de France was run under the shadow of the recent doping scandal in the sport of cycling. Race leader Michael Rasmussen was ousted under suspicion of evading doping controls. His departure vaulted eventual winner Alberto Contador into the lead.

Contador became the youngest Tour de France winner since 1997 and the first Spaniard since 1995. Defending champ Floyd Landis did not defend his title because of his own problems dealing with suspicions of doping.
