The Men's Biathlon 20K Individual event was introduced at the 1960 games, and was the first time a biathlon event was included in the Winter Olympics. Klas Lestander of Sweden was the first gold medalist.
The biathlete shoots four times at any shooting lane over five laps for twenty total targets. Pentalty time is added for each missed shot.
