#1 seed Roger Federer won the 2006 Australian Open Men's Singles title, but the story of the tournament was unseeded Marcos Baghdatis.

The 20 year old from Cyprus advanced all the way to the final against Federer. Baghdatis took the first set 7-5, but Federer stormed back to win the next three and win the 2006 Australian Open.
