Rafael Nadal defeated Tomas Berdych of the Czech Republic 6-3, 7-5, 6-4 to claim his second Wimbledon championship and eighth Grand Slam title overall.

Nadal, who won Wimbledon in 2008, had to completely sit out the tournament in 2009 due to injury.

This was the first Wimbledon final since 2002 that did not include six-time champion Roger Federer, who was ousted by Berdych in the quarterfinals.
