Venus Williams won her fifth Wimbledon championship in 2008 when she defeated younger sister Serena 7-5, 6-4. It was the first time the Williams sisters had met in the Wimbledon final since 2003 when Serena defeated Venus.

The win was the second consecutive Wimbledon title and seventh major championship overall for Venus Williams.

This was the tenth time the Williams sisters have met in a major final, with each winning five times.
