George Clooney was born on May 6, 1961 in Lexington, Kentucky where his father, Nick Clooney was a TV newscaster. He is the nephew of Rosemary Clooney and a cousin of actor Miguel Ferrer.

George Clooney's first big acting breaks came on television, scoring roles in E/R, The Facts of Life, and Roseanne. More famously, he played Dr Doug Ross in the NBC drama ER starting in 1987.

After television, Clooney's movie career took off with starring roles in such movies as "Batman & Robin", "O Brother Where Art Thou?", "The Perfect Storm", and "Ocean's Eleven." Critical success came to a head in 2006 when he was nominated for two Academy Awards and won best supporting actor for "Syriana."
