Tom Cruise was born Thomas Cruise Mapother IV on July 3, 1962 in Syracuse, New York. He attended many schools growing up, and eventually graduated from Glen Ridge High School in New Jersey. He became interested in drama when he was sidelined with an injury from the school wrestling team.
The film "Risky Business" is what propelled Tom Cruise to superstardom. Since then, he has appeared in numerous blockbusters including "Top Gun", "Mission: Impossible", and "War of the Worlds."
Tom Cruise has also made many critically acclaimed and Oscar nominated movies including "Rain Man", "The Last Samurai", and "Magnolia." He has won two Golden Globes and was nominated for Best Actor Oscars for "Born on the Fourth of July", and "Jerry Maguire."
