Australian actor Heath Ledger was born in Perth on April 4, 1979.
Heath Ledger got his first big break appearing in the Fox TV series "Roar" in the late 1990s. His first major motion picture appearance came in 1999 with "10 Things I Hate About You." Since then, Ledger has also appeared in the movies "The Patriot", "A Knight's Tale", "The Lords of Dogtown", "The Brothers Grimm", and others.
In 2005 Heath Ledger starred in the critically acclaimed and controversial "Brokeback Mountain" where he plays a ranch hand who has a love affair with a rodeo rider.
On January 22, 2008, Ledger was found dead in a Manhattan apartment - from either suicide or an accidental drug overdose. Before his death Heath Ledger completed filming the 2008 blockbuster, "The Dark Knight".
