Nicolas Cage was born Nicholas Kim Coppola on January 7, 1964 in Long Beach, California. Cage is a nephew of director Francis Ford Coppola and cousin to Sofia Coppola. He changed his name in part to avoid accusations of nepitism. Nicolas Cage attended Beverly Hills High School growing up and liked acting from an early age.
Cage's first film role was a small part in "Fast Times at Ridgemont High". Since then he has made numerous films of varying genres. He has taken offbeat 'quirky' roles as well as action hero roles. Nicholas Cage won the Academy Award for Best Actor for "Leaving Las Vegas". He was also nominated for "Adaptation". Cage has starred in blockbuster movies such as "National Treasure" and "Ghost Rider".
Nicolas Cage has been married three times - to Patricia Arquette, Lisa Marie Presley, and current wife Alice Kim.
