Brett Favre (pronounced "Farv") was born October 10, 1969 in Gulfport, Mississippi. He atttended Hancock Central High School in the tiny Mississippi town of Kiln. His father, Irvin Favre, was his high school football coach.
Favre attended Southern Miss, the only college to offer him a scholarship. During college he was involved in quite a serious car accident, but was able to recover and finish off his stellar college career.
Brett Favre was a second round draft pick of the Falcons in 1991. He didn't fit in well in Atlanta, and was traded to the Green Bay Packers for a 1st round pick. He started every game for the Packers since Don Majkowski went down with an injury in 1992.
Favre was the NFL MVP three consecutive years (1995-97), and he and the Packers won Super Bowl XXXI against the New England Patriots. In 2007 Favre broke several NFL career passing records including total touchdown passes and total yards.
Brett Favre 'retired' after the 2007 season, but returned to play in 2008 with the Jets.
