Kevin Garnett was born May 19, 1976 in Mauldin, South Carolina. He played his first three years of high school basketball in South Carolina, but transferred to Farragut Academy in Chicago for his senior year. At Farragut he was named Mr Basketball for Illinois and National High School Player of the Year.
Garnett did not attend college and was drafted fifth overall by the Minnesota Timberwolves in the 1995 NBA draft. He soon evolved into a perennial all-star and signed a huge $126 million six-year contract extension.
Garnett's most successful season with the Timberwolves came in 2003-04 when he was named the NBA MVP and led his team to the conference finals.
Before the 2007-08 NBA season Garnett was traded to the Boston Celtics for Al Jefferson and a host of other players.
