U2 won all their matchups and survived to be named your favorite rock back for 2009.

They defeated Carolina Liar, the Jonas Brother and Papa Roach to make the final four. The proved more popular than Coldplay and went on to face and defeat Linkin Park in the final matchup.

The previous two winners, Nickelback and The Fray, both made it to the final eight.

The bands were selected based on having top selling albums or singles in May of 2009.
